SESD Athletics COVID-19 Response

Greetings SESD Parent, Athlete or Employee,

This page will be updated as we collectively move through the COVID-19 Pandemic together.  As York County has moved into Green Phase, area athletic department's have been given permission to begin a "return to play" process that involves safeguards to prevent spread.  We have been approved to return to activity July 1; we plan to move incrementally from "low risk" activities to normal activities through the end of August.  Of course, our RTP timeline is dependent upon several variables, including our ability to mitigate spread and COVID-19's overall presence in central Pennsylvania as we move through the Summer months.

A lot is unknown about COVID-19, the athletic activities offered through mid-August are completely voluntary.  If the Fall 2020 season starts "as normal," mandatory activities will resume on 8/10/20.  The athletic department's objective is to offer RTP opportunities that follow the CDC's, PDE and PIAA's guidelines and recommendations.   Each athlete, parent and coach must evaluate individual risk factors to determine if participation in preseason programming is the best decision for them.

Please access the Return To Play Plan Below

SESD "Return To Play" Plan

The Return To Play plan outlines common sense safeguards all teams must implement to mitigate spread.  These safeguards are minimally evasive and will allow the athletes to return to baseline levels of activity prior to preparing more extensively for their competition season.

Key Points for Return To Play:

- All athletes (with their parent's signature) must submit a COVID-19 waiver to their coach prior to their first training session.  Waiver found here.
- Daily, each athlete must check-in with coach to receive a touchless temperature reading and answer three questions pertaining to their state of health on that day.
- Athletes must wear masks during the check-in, parents must remain in cars but should wait until the athlete has checked in to leave.  Athletes that fail the screen will be sent home immediately.
- Athletes MUST BRING OWN WATER.  We will not provide water bottles due to sharing, please make sure athletes are well-hydrated and bring adequate water.
- Activities will incrementally transition from low-risk (no/low touch) activities to normal play through mid-August.
- Workouts will last no longer than 2-hours.
- If groups are needed for training, coaches will implement consistent grouping of students (same each day) to minimize exposure.
- Hand sanitizer and disinfectant will consistently be applied through the session.

Team Workout Schedules

The team workout schedules will be consistently updated through mid-August.  Teams are permitted to begin training July 1, but not all teams will start at that time.  Some will start later in July.  The drop-off and check-in location for team workouts will remain constant.

Please access this schedule for team sessions.

Questions pertaining to specific teams workouts should be directed to the team coach.  Coach contact information can be found here.
